Agent Garbo and Bletchley Park with Jason Webster

  • Jason Webster, author of ‘Garbo: The Spy with 29 Names’
  • Day of talks and tours of Bletchley Park with lunch
  • Guided tour of Bletchley Park Grounds
  • Day includes a copy of Jason Webster’s book, ‘The Spy with 29 Names’

In this Study Day, Jason Webster tells the fascinating story of Agent Garbo - Juan Pujol - the most extraordinary double agent of the Second World War, who was awarded both an Iron Cross by Germany and an MBE by Britain. In Operation Fortitude he diverted German Panzer divisions away from Normandy, playing a crucial role in safeguarding D-Day and ending the war, and securing his reputation as the greatest double agent in history.

Jason Webster also explains how, through the breaking of the Enigma Code at Bletchley, the Allies knew that the deception operation had been successful and explains the role of Bletchley Park in Operation Fortitude and in the Allied war effort more generally.
